"Getting Real" about Relocation
How can it be that I've been living in MA for nearly a decade? I'm blown away by how quickly time flies. When we moved from Long Island (Port Washington) to be exact, my kids were 7 and 10. And now one is a Junior at Needham High and the other a sophomore at Wake Forest University in Winston Salem, NC.
At the time of our move my kids were just starting 2nd and 5th grade. Needless to say, the news of our move hit them hard because they would be leaving all that they knew. My message to them (besides the fact that we would get a 🐶😊) was that as long as our family was together everything would be ok. Getting acclimated and settled into a new community takes a lot of hard work on everyone’s part. And it’s an emotional adjustment at any age. Especially when you are trying to make it as seamless as possible for kids. And I’ve learned that staying connected to your roots while forming new connections is SO important for everyone. The experience of relocating my family is one that I love sharing with others and one that has made me especially empathetic to the emotional aspect of moving regardless of the circumstances. The value of having first hand knowledge of the relocation process is an asset that I am proud to provide my clients.
